RheoVac ® Multisensor Flow Monitors
The RheoVac family of instruments from Bionetics are unique multisensor flow meters which incorporate four primary measurements: flow, pressure, temperature and humidity. These four key process measurements are used to provide the following standard outputs:
- absolute pressure
- temperature
- various flow rates (see applications)
- relative humidity
- dew point
- partial pressures
- vapor specific volume
- vapor-to-gas mass ratio
This information enables you to create a picture of your process that can be used for control or qualitative evaluation of the process.
Like all Bionetics products, RheoVac instruments are designed to meet the demanding needs of a variety of industrial applications to ensure long-term, reliable process measurement. To satisfy the needs of a range of applications, the instrument is configured into four primary product models: RheoVac DR Drying Monitor, RheoVac GP Multisensor Process Monitor, RheoVac CM Condenser Monitor and RheoVac AC Duct Flow Monitor.
This versatile instrument can be used in applications which in the past would require an assortment of instruments/devices from multiple suppliers with complicated interconnection/integration schemes. Click any of the links below for additional details about the RheoVac Multisensor Flow Monitor recommended for the corresponding application.
Applications for the RheoVac Multisensor Flow Monitor
Industrial Drying
(e.g. pharmaceuticals, dry chemical production, vacuum extrusion, nuclear waste fuel preparation)
The RheoVac DR Drying Monitor provides measurement of several key parameters of industrial drying processes. The unique combination of sensors and measurements provide insight into the drying process that, in the past, required multiple instruments. The instrument is compatible for operating temperatures of 32-210°F. A low dew point sensor is optional.
In addition to the standard RheoVac outputs, the following additional process values are provided: vacuum system volumetric flow, gas mass flow rates and water vapor mass flow rate. Click here for more details and specifications on the RheoVac DR.
Evaporation rate control and monitoring
(e.g. chemical production, vacuum filtration, paper dewatering, crystallizers)
The RheoVac GP Multisensor Process Monitor is ideal for challenging applications with low flows in a vacuum environment. The instrument is compatible with operating temperatures of 40-140°F in low vacuum to low pressurized environments.
In addition to the standard RheoVac outputs, the following additional process values are provided: volumetric flow rate, gas mass flow rates and water vapor mass flow rate. Click here for more information and specifications on the RheoVac GP Multisensor Process Monitor.
Steam Surface Condenser Performance Monitoring
(e.g. power generation, vacuum distillation, chemical processing)
The RheoVac CM Condenser Monitor is a unique instrument designed for measuring several key parameters that help determine steam surface condenser performance. It incorporates a heated probe for saturated, low vacuum environments which makes the instrument compatible with operating temperatures ranging from 40-210°F and trace caustic chemical vapors commonly found in steam power generation applications. There is an optional upgrade for systems using Steam Jet Air Ejectors with high temperature excursion protection up to 500°F (260°C). In addition to the standard RheoVac outputs, the following additional process values are provided: vacuum system volumetric flow, air in-leak flow rate, and water vapor flow rates.

Vacuum Pump Monitoring
(e.g. pump capacity monitoring, pump/blower performance)
The RheoVac GP Vacuum Pump Monitor can be used to monitor the performance of vacuum pumps and blowers. As this equipment ages, its capacity can degrade which can decrease system efficiency resulting in poor system performance, increased operating cost, and reduced product quality.
We also offers a service for vacuum pump or ejector (e.g., LVRP, Steam Jet Air Ejector) capacity testing to help determine the current state of this equipment. Click here for more information about this service.
In addition to the standard RheoVac outputs, the following outputs are also available: gas velocity, gas mass flow rates and water vapor mass flow rate. Click here for more information and specifications on the RheoVac GP Vacuum Pump Monitor.
Duct Monitoring
(e.g. exhaust stack monitoring, off-gas monitoring, HVAC system monitoring)
The RheoVac AC Duct Flow Monitor is an excellent choice for monitoring flow in large ducts and process exhaust stacks where low gas flow rates exist. The instrument can be used for operating temperatures of 40-140°F at atmospheric or lower pressures.
The instrument’s multisensor probe is compatible with most gases, and is typically calibrated on air. The dedicated processor within the unit adjusts the measurement outputs to compensate for differences in measured gas properties vs. air.
In addition to the standard RheoVac outputs, the following outputs are also available: gas velocity, gas mass flow rates and water vapor mass flow rate. Click here for more information and specifications on the RheoVac AC Duct Flow Monitor.
